EXPLORING Fort Myers Beach
The Fort Myers beach is a 35-minute friendly and easy drive from Westminster. It is a beautiful beach located on the Estero Island, off the southwest Florida coast. A wonderful sandy beach facing the Gulf of Mexico. You can also visit the OSTEGO Bay Marine Science Center showcasing local marine life. Times Square shopping center has stores and many restaurants. Our favourite is PLAKA, serving authentic Greek cuisine. SAGANAKI, OCTAPODI, SOUVLAKI, “homemade” DOLMADIS and much more. For fish and seafood lovers, we enjoyed PINCHERS in Fort Myers downtown and for sizzling steaks cooked to perfection, you cannot beat OUTBACK 72 Steakhouse on South Cleveland Avenue. If you enjoy Italian food, Two Meat Balls in the Kitchen (on SALROSE Lane) may sound like an odd name for a restaurant but the Chef does a great job serving genuine Italian dishes. Excellent variety of pasta “al dente” for “Primo” and delicious choices of veal, beef, chicken, and seafood for “Secondo”. You can finish dinner with a TIRAMISU (means Pull-me-up in Italian), a famous Italian dessert, with mascarpone cheese, coffee, chocolate and of course, Marsala Wine in abundance. If you have a designated driver, you can also try their Prosecco from Veneto!

Public Parking is available and cost only $2.00 per hour, and Public Washrooms are clean and well maintained. There is also an outdoor shower and several BBQ’s.

Enjoy the sandy beach, have lunch at the PIER SIDE GRILL or cast your line off the beautiful Fort Myers Fishing Pier. (Rated 4.6 on GOOGLE REVIEWS with over 2’000 reviews)

Fort Myers is a beautiful city in Southwest Florida with a population under 75’000 and is part of the Lee County (population under 700’000). Points of interest include the historic downtown district with fine dinning and bars, the Edison Mall, Edison and Ford Winter Estates, IMAGINARIUM Science Center and Southwest Florida Museum of History. You can also visit City of Palms Park, former home of the BOSTON RED SOX spring training program, just off downtown Fort Myers.
For shopping enthusiasts, you’ll find Macy’s, Dillard’s, Target, BEALLS, J C Penney, CVS, WALLGREENS, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Whole Foods, and Costco. Our favourites were the WALMART Super Center on the San Carlos Boulevard, (the nicest WM I ever visited) and ADA’s Natural Market on the College Parkway.
